Time to wake up

They told me we couldn’t have a “one-tier health system.” Well we are nearly there.

When I was eleven i remember leaving my sister off at the nursing training centre in Belfast, and now at sixty-five she has become my hero, working with covid-19 patients in the Downe Hospital, saving precious lives.

They told me that they couldn’t spend our money because of this and that. Now they spend it like confetti at a wedding.

We told them that austerity was working and that we would suffer because of it, and now thousands are dying needlessly.

They said socialism doesn’t work and now only for socialism we would be lost in a dark hole.

Will you wake up?
