On July 12, 2025, representatives from the Israeli National Security Council and the Takfiri HTS, with U.S. coordination, met in Baku, Azerbaijan. Within 24 hours, a crisis ignited in southern Syria. In Suwayda, clashes broke out between Druze armed groups, and takfiri Bedouin tribes. HTS forces entered the region and began massacring Druze civilians, backed by aligned Bedouin tribes
Donald Trump declared the takfiri HTS the legitimate government of Syria, a force openly driven by Salafi-Wahhabi extremism, sectarian hatred, and anti-minority violence. Israel attacked HTS forces in Suwayda and Damascus, in fake support of the Druze. However, without Israel’s support, HTS leader al-Jolani could not maintain power for a single day. It is with their blessing, that HTS wages war on Syria’s pluralistic fabric.
Suwayda, a historically peaceful region known for its grapes, olives, and Druze community, is now ground zero for a campaign of terror. HTS fighters, indoctrinated with Takfiri ideology, consider killing Druze and Alawites a religious duty (wajib) and their property halal – ripe for seizure. With Israeli air support and US coordination, HTS has weaponised this ideology into a campaign of ethnic cleansing.
The Druze people, long committed to Arab nationalism and the territorial unity of Syria, are now faced with a cruel ultimatum: submit to Israeli-backed sectarianism or face annihilation. Israel incites HTS violence, then offers itself as the “protector,” saying in effect: “Join us, or cease to exist.” This is a textbook example of colonial strategy to create chaos, then offer “security” as leverage for control.
But some Druze have rejected this coercion. In a public statement, Druze leader, Abu Muhammed ali Maadi declared:
“We are not asking for Israeli protection. This entity is not capable of protecting anyone except when its own interests are threatened. What the Takfiri gangs are doing, killing, rape of women, our daughters, our neighbours – we hold the Israeli government primarily responsible. The Israeli government brought this Jolani, together with the USA, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia.”
This is an historic declaration of resistance despite Druze being pushed by HTS to ask for Israeli protection or face annihilation.
This is not an isolated campaign. It is part of a larger plan, the David Corridor. Modeled on Iran’s “land bridge” connecting Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon to support Palestinian resistance, the David Corridor is Israel’s counter-move.
Iran, alongside Yemen, does not recognise Israel as a legitimate state. It denies Israel’s sovereignty and approaches Israel as a colonial and illegal entity. “Palestine will be freed. The Zionist regime must be eliminated. Al-Quds (Jerusalem) belongs to the Palestinians,” is Iran’s commitment.
Iran materialised its support for the Palestinian liberation through a land bridge. This bridge runs across Al-Qaim (Iraq) into Al-Bu Kamal, Syria, and onward to Lebanon and the Palestinians, granting direct logistical and military access to Palestinian freedom fighters.
The David Corridor passes the same route, from Suwayda, alongside the Jordanian border, to Al-Bu Kamal combining with Kurdish forces. The USA military base at Tanf secured this path. This passage goes alongside Iraqi Kurdistan into Iranian Kurdistan.
Crucial to this corridor is Kurdish collaboration.
The US has poured resources into Kurdish fighters like the YPG, with $130 million in annual stipends as of 2026. It’s about building a compliant buffer zone in the heart of Syria and blocking the Iranian axis of resistance. Without Kurdish collaboration, the David Corridor is not possible to secure. Kurds are a strategically important asset for the Zionist regime. While they are surrounded by those who oppose Kurdish independence, this cannot be a legitimate justification for becoming a Zionist proxy.
By funding groups outside Syria’s constitution, Washington undermines the very idea of Syrian sovereignty, while publicly claiming to support “territorial integrity.” The contradiction is clear: US policy is designed to fragment, not unify, Syria.
On 10th March, Christian Solidarity International issued a Genocide Warning for the Alawite people. That same day, Kurdish commander Mazlum Kobani signed a formal deal with HTS, legitimising genocide perpetrators and kissing the Zionist ring.
On 25th of July 2025 HTS and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister, Ron Dermer held talks in Paris where Israel dictated to HTS that the Druze region will be autonomous. This means that both the Kurdish and Druze regions will be connected, under the cover of humanitarian aid, thus strengthening the David Corridor land bridge from Israel to Iran.
It is shameful that the Kurdish independence movement abandoned its anti-imperialist principles many of their fighters once upheld. They burned their weapons for Turkey to be a proxy for attacking Iran.
The Western Zionist bloc is balkanizing the region, dividing communities into fragmented enclaves, each rendered too weak to resist Zionism. The goal is clear: control the land, suppress the resistance, and erase the possibility of unified liberation.
But the path forward is also clear. Liberation for Syria and Palestine, and indeed everywhere, requires breaking the chains of Zionism.
