After the success of the CPI’s national congress, which took place on the weekend of 17 and 18 September, party activists were out in force on the following weekend.
On the evening of Friday 22 September, Dublin activists took part in a protest at the Republic of Ireland v. Israel under-21 soccer match at the Tallaght Stadium. The ground was packed, and most of the crowd fully supported the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign publicising the murderous Zionist regime in Israel.
On Saturday at 12:45 the CPI Women’s Committee gathered members and supporters at the eleventh annual March for Choice, calling for abortion on demand. For this writer, the stories told at this meeting again revealed how women are still treated in Ireland, north and south.
Comrades then gathered in O’Connell Street to march with the thousands at the Cost of Living protest.
